Jackie and Ian’s stunning Boston Public Library wedding day was not only a dream, but was a memorable milestone for me, as photographing a wedding at the Boston Public Library has been on my bucket list ever since I went full-time with photography in 2019. Let me tell you, it was just as amazing as I thought it would be to photograph there, exceeding every expectation! Jackie and Ian’s celebration was the perfect blend of timeless elegance, heartfelt moments, and incredible Boston charm.

The Iconic Boston Public Library

The Boston Public Library is one of Boston’s most iconic landmarks and a top wedding venue. Located in the heart of Copley Square, this historic venue offers an unmatched atmosphere for couples who want a memorable wedding experience. From the breathtaking courtyard to the grand staircases and incredible architecture, the Boston Public Library is a dream backdrop for any wedding day.

While Jackie and Ian chose to have their ceremony at a nearby church, it’s worth noting that many couples opt to have their ceremony in the courtyard of The Boston Public Library, which is hands down my favorite part of the entire venue. The setting here feels straight out of a storybook, providing a romantic European-inspired space, right in the middle of the city.

The day began with Jackie getting ready at the Lenox Hotel, inside the absolutely gorgeous Judy Garland Suite. The elegance of the room set the tone perfectly for the rest of the day. Jackie’s look was classic and timeless and she was such an elegant bride. She wore a stunning fitted gown, with a cathedral-length veil. Her bridesmaids complemented her beautifully in champagne-colored dresses, carrying crisp white bouquets.

Before guests even arrived, they got a taste of the day to come with Jackie and Ian’s custom invitation suite. A sketch of the Boston Public Library graced the invitation, paired with a navy envelope lined with a map of Downtown Boston. I absolutely loved these thoughtful touches, setting the stage for the elegant and meaningful day that awaited.

After the church ceremony, the celebration continued at The Boston Public Library. One of my favorite features of the Boston Public Library is the ability to use multiple spaces. Jackie and Ian hosted their cocktail hour, reception, and dancing all in different areas and rooms of the library, giving their guests a new experience with every part of the night. The library’s stunning spaces create an ambiance that is both grand and intimate.

Guests sipped espresso martinis, the signature drink, during cocktail hour while they mingled inside and out in the stunning courtyard. The reception room was breathtaking, decorated with soft, romantic florals sitting on a stack of books (love these little details), and library reading lights that highlighted the space and added character. Every detail worked together to create a truly timeless and memorable celebration.

A Dream Wedding at a Dream Venue

Jackie and Ian’s wedding was everything I love about Boston weddings: elegant, historic, heartfelt, and incredibly joyful. Watching Ian look at Jackie throughout the day said everything about their love and admiration for each other. It was so sweet to witness their pure and joyful love for one another. What an honor it was to capture their wedding day, especially at a venue as iconic as the Boston Public Library.
