Madeleine and Nick’s luxury wedding at Portes des Iris in Lausanne, Switzerland was the kind of celebration that feels impossible to fully capture in words. Their entire weekend was filled with beauty from beginning to end, not only in the details, but also in the stunning blues of Lake Geneva and the sunsets at Portes de Iris. The wedding day emulated a chic garden party vibe with lush flowers at the center of the design, and stunningly coordinated mismatched, floral bridesmaids dresses and a different wedding bouquet to match each dress.
Garden-Inspired Wedding Design in Switzerland
Their weekend began with a romantic boat ride on Lake Geneva. Following that memorable experience, Madeleine and Nick hosted a bright, summer yellow welcome party at Beau-Rivage Palace. The wedding day followed suit with welcoming garden inspired colors. The amazing and talented wedding planner, Gianna, owner of The W. Day Wedding & Events, took the bride’s vision and completely brought it to life. Everything from the outdoor ceremony to the elegant reception was unique and immersive. As the bride, groom, and guests entered each space, jaws literally dropped at the stunning design. It was truly one of the most extraordinary wedding weekends I’ve ever photographed.
Getting Ready at Beau-Rivage Palace
The day began at Beau-Rivage Palace overlooking Lake Geneva, where the bride and groom got ready separately. They hosted their welcome party and rehearsal dinner at the hotel the night before, and it is a beautiful location. It features historic architecture, incredible natural light, and waterfront views that created the perfect setting for them to get ready and capture portraits.
Madeleine and Nick shared their first look outside of the hotel before exploring the property together for wedding photos. Every corner of Beau-Rivage Palace photographed beautifully, but what made these moments especially meaningful was how present and excited they both were throughout the day. There was such an ease between them and a connection that was evident to anyone watching them together.
Outdoor Wedding Ceremony in Switzerland
The ceremony itself was absolutely breathtaking. Upon arriving at the venue, guests were welcomed with drinks before walking through a gorgeous, sun-drenched open field pathway leading toward the ceremony space in nature surrounded by towering trees. There, lush floral arrangements lined the aisle leading to the altar where a large floral wedding arch stood at the center. The wedding ceremony florals had a cooler feel with various shades of blue and purple mixed with lighter pinks for balance. The floral installation started out with light pink and purple flowers at the bottom that gradually got darker with the top of the arch featuring darker purple flowers for an ombre effect.
As Madeleine walked down the aisle, a gospel choir performed, creating one of the most emotional and unforgettable moments of the entire day. The combination of the music, floral design, surrounding scenery, and the emotions of everyone in attendance created an incredible atmosphere.
Portes de Iris Wedding Reception
Once officially husband and wife, the newlyweds and their guests gathered for an outdoor cocktail hour, which was met with a quick little rain shower. However, thanks to incredible planning, custom umbrellas were ready and on hand for everyone. Following cocktail hour, we did a reception reveal for both the couple and their parents. The stunning design and transformation of the space impressed everyone. The floral-filled tablescape, layered candlelight, beautiful chandeliers, and overall design was truly breathtaking. The entire aesthetic felt like an elevated European garden party that was elegant, whimsical, and enchanting. Every detail was thoughtfully curated to tell a story. As guests entered the reception tent, they were also completely blown away. The evening, however, was far from over!
A Firework Surprise
The amazing band kept the energy high. They were and forever will be the best band I’ve ever heard. Later in the night, the celebration continued with a sparkler cake cutting followed by a surprise fireworks display organized by the wedding planner. It was an epic moment as the bride and groom had no idea, and their surprised faces said it all. Watching fireworks paint the sky in Switzerland was the icing on the cake for this dream destination wedding.
The night still wasn’t over though, as there was an after party that somehow brought even more energy. The after party featured a complete party vibe with lights, disco balls, and music! The bride changed into a disco ball inspired dress and continued to dance the night away.
Between the boat ride to kickstart their weekend, the warm and inviting rehearsal dinner, and this stunning, luxury garden wedding, it was a weekend to remember. With tablescapes dripping in florals to the surprise fireworks show at the end, nothing was missed at this incredible weekend!
The international vendor team was a dream team! Creative partners from Switzerland, France, Italy, and beyond all came together to execute the weekend so beautifully. It was amazing to witness how seamlessly every detail unfolded and how perfectly the couple’s wedding vision was brought to life.
Congratulations, Madeleine and Nick! Your wedding weekend felt welcoming, joyful, elegant, and completely unforgettable from beginning to end. Thank you for trusting me to photograph your Switzerland wedding, as it was truly one of the highlights of my career.
