This beautiful couple, Alysha and Will, booked me close to their wedding date, so a typical engagement session didn’t fit into the timeline or the plan of what they were envisioning. However, during one of our conversations, they mentioned that they were planning to bake their own wedding cake a few days before their wedding. That’s when light bulbs went off and I suggested we capture a more interactive, candid at home engagement session at home of them baking their cake. Let me tell you, this session was a DREAM- better than I ever imagined. I am completely in love with the images!
Candid At-Home Engagement Session
We turned their kitchen into a cozy set straight out of a romantic movie as I documented the sweetest moments of them mixing batter and frosting, all while laughing together and having the absolute best time together. They were so natural together and had so much fun. Their chemistry and relaxed energy created the most heartwarming candid photos. They also did a great job baking their cake! It looked amazing and I am sure tasted even better. Not bad for two people who hadn’t done much baking!
Their Love Story
Alysha recalls that “it was love at first left swipe!” Will caught her eye because he works within the golf industry and she just so happens to love golf. The pair hit it off right away and planned their first date on the golf course. Alysha told me all about their first date: “To impress him, I put together a tackle box filled with margarita ingredients to keep in the back of our cart to enjoy while we were getting to know each other. The tackle box itself was filled an assortment of fruit to mix into our drinks, tequila, margarita mix, and ice all organized within the various compartments. After a day of getting to know each other over drinks and golf, our love story began. Will and I have been together for three years.”
The Proposal
Alysha knew a proposal was in the near future but wanted it to be a surprise. After a few months went by, Will finally settled on a weekend in October. Before their night out, Will gave Alysha a key and instructed her to hold on to it as she would need it to open something later! After a day filled of fun dates, they ended at the golf course during sunset, since that is something they both love.
Will remembers that moment clearly, sharing that “on the fourth hole, Alysha hit her ball towards a bunker on the left side of the fairway. As she approached, she noticed a big “Marry Me?” written in the sand and at that moment I blacked out with excitement. I know I kneeled but wasn’t sure what was coming out of my mouth. Anyway, she said YES! The key opened a tackle box that was filled with champagne and drink garnishes I hid earlier that morning.” Will thoughtfully recreated this moment from their first date when Alysha wooed him with a surprise tackle box filled with golf course items.
Alysha and Will are as sweet as they come and watching them have fun in the kitchen together was such a memorable experience! Thank you so much, Alysha and Will, for trusting me with this idea and allowing me to capture these intimate and candid couple portraits.
