Anu and Matt’s Colorful South Indian wedding at Saphire Estate was beautiful! It was an unforgettable day filled with vibrant color, emotion, energy, and tradition. South Indian weddings typically include symbolism, tradition, and community, and Anu and Matt’s day incorporated each of these.
A Waterfront First Look
After getting dressed in traditional Indian wedding outfits, Anu and Matt shared a beautiful first look by the water. There, they shared a few quiet moments together to soak everything in before stepping into the celebration with their families and guests. First looks are always some of my favorite moments to document! I love seeing the building anticipation, emotion, and the way couples naturally settle into each other, allowing everything else to fade into the background.
Traditional South Indian Wedding Ceremony
Their wedding day started with the baraat, which is a groom’s parade. This instantly set the tone for the day. Matt arrived in a classic Porsche with his father while music played. The groom’s side of the family danced and celebrated their way leading him toward the ceremony. Then, both families gathered together to welcome him, symbolizing the joining of not just two people, but two families.
Their wedding ceremony was filled with meaningful rituals and symbolism beginning with the first pooja, a prayer, before Anu’s parents formally gave her away. Next was the tying of the sacred knot, where Matt tied the Maangalya, a holy thread, around Anu’s neck, symbolizing their union as husband and wife. The couple then exchanged beautiful floral garlands, acknowledging their acceptance of one another and the beginning of their marriage together. To conclude the ceremony, a sacred fire was lit to witness the marriage.
Stunning Florals and Bold Wedding Color Inspiration
One of my favorite visual elements from this wedding was the stunning floral design and a vibrant color palette of peaches, pinks, oranges, and layered greens. The entire celebration was visually incredible. Every detail was curated with intention, from the colorful outdoor ceremony to the classic and elegant reception.
Throughout the day, Anu changed into several different sarees. Her first look was bold and colorful in a bright orange. Her ceremony look was softer in light pink. Then, for the reception, Anu transitioned into an elegant all white and silver saree while Matt changed into a classic tux. The wardrobe change completely shifted the atmosphere of the evening, going from vibrant ceremonial traditions to a timeless and sophisticated reception celebration.
Anu and Matt, thank you for allowing me to capture your beautiful wedding day. It was truly an honor seeing you both together, witnessing the beauty of your ceremony, and celebrating alongside you. Congratulations!
