Madeleine and Nick’s wedding weekend in Lausanne, Switzerland was one of those weddings that will stick with me forever. Not only because of how visually stunning it was, but because the entire experience was an absolute dream from beginning to end. Before the wedding festivities officially began, Madeleine and Nick spent the evening sailing across Lake Geneva for a private, romantic boat session just as the sun was setting behind the Swiss Alps. It was absolutely stunning.

As we started the boat ride, I’d be lying if I didn’t say my jaw was on the floor. I was completely in awe of this entire evening. From the vibrant blue water – yes, it really was that color – to the views of the Swiss AND French alps as we sailed across the open waters, and the gorgeous sunset in hues of pinks, purples, and blues, their romantic boat session was absolutely incredible.

On top of the beautiful scenery in every direction, the love shared by Madeleine and Nick was so sweet to witness. Watching them giggle, whisper jokes to each other, and see them truly soak up the moment was a joy.

Madeleine & Nick’s Love Story

The couple met in Boston where Nick later proposed. After the proposal, he surprised Madeleine by inviting her close family and friends to celebrate. Madeleine’s mother is from Switzerland, and she spent a lot of time there as a child over school breaks. Nick had the opportunity to visit Switzerland with Madeleine, and they both instantly knew it would be a perfect destination for their wedding.

As a Boston-based luxury wedding photographer, photographing a wedding in Switzerland was genuinely a dream come true for me. I’ve always loved traveling, but documenting a wedding weekend in an entirely new country alongside an incredibly talented international vendor team made this experience especially unforgettable. The collaboration throughout the weekend was amazing! Vendors from Switzerland, France, Italy, and beyond all came together to create something truly extraordinary.

Also, Switzerland itself completely stole my heart, and is definitely one of my favorite places I’ve ever visited; I would move there in a heartbeat!

Madeleine and Nick’s romantic boat ride was such a wonderful and memorable photoshoot to kick off their wedding weekend. This was only the beginning though! Their weekend continued with a welcome party overlooking Lake Geneva at Beau-Rivage Palace, and then the main event, a stunning garden wedding at Porte de Iris.
