Capturing Sara and Dan’s stunning garden wedding at The Gardens at Elm Bank was an absolute dream! Every aspect of their day was nothing short of magical, from the meticulously planned details, to the breathtaking venue, to the heartfelt moments shared between the couple and their guests. Sara and Dan’s wedding day was elegant, relaxed, and truly felt like them.

The Gardens at Elm Bank

Just 30 minutes from the busy city of Boston, Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s The Gardens at Elm Bank sits on 36 acres and offers a gorgeous outdoor setting for couples seeking a garden wedding infused with natural beauty, which is exactly what Sara and Dan fell in love with when they visited the grounds! With its lush greenery, flower blooms, and thoughtfully designed landscapes, The Gardens at Elm Bank provides the perfect backdrop for a memorable celebration.

Stunning Garden Wedding

Sara and Dan’s wedding embraced the venue’s charm, showcasing how its stunning scenery can elevate an event. The romantic and beautiful landscapes can be seen in full from above in the drone photos of their outdoor wedding ceremony in the Italianate Garden, which are among my favorites from their day! We also captured their first look and wedding photos all over the gorgeous property, making the most of every landscape.

One of my favorite parts of their wedding (besides how sweet these two are together!) was the overall color palette and design. Kelly Golia Events, their incredible wedding planner, executed every detail flawlessly. Her vision brought together the romantic, welcoming vibe Sara and Dan envisioned, from the invitation suite, the garden-inspired floral arrangements, to the gorgeous tented reception with its open-air feel and elegant decor. If anyone doubts hiring a wedding planner, these photos are your proof of just ONE of the many reasons why hiring a planner who also has an eye for design is worth its weight in gold. Kelly Golia Events created a beautiful wedding that perfectly complemented the venue’s natural elegance, AND she was a joy to work with!

The mix and match bridesmaids dresses, which has always been a personal favorite of mine, was executed with perfection. Coordinating different looks can be hard as you want to ensure that the overall look is cohesive and doesn’t clash. That as not the case here! I truly loved the mix of solid color dresses and floral patterns. It all just worked so well together and tied into their garden theme beautifully.

Their Love Story

Sara and Dan have been together for seven years, having met during their sophomore year at the University of Michigan. The pair then began dating during their senior year. After navigating long-distance while Dan pursued law school in Boston, Sara joined him in 2020, marking the start of a new chapter together.

Their proposal story is equally heartwarming. Dan proposed to Sara on their street in Boston as they were on their way to a birthday dinner celebration for her. They were surrounded by the beautiful trees and the park on their road. Sara was so surprised that she thought the dinner was just a ruse to get her out of the house! The dinner was real though! After an amazing meal at Contessa, they headed back to their apartment where both sets of parents had come into town as a surprise to Sara and to celebrate with them and some of their closest friends. Dan did such a great job planning everything and pulling off an epic and special surprise!
