Juliana and Mike’s luxurious spring wedding at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston felt classic, personal and just plain epic. From the breathtaking ceremony design to the elegant reception, every detail was polished and intentional, while still reflecting the personalities and story of the couple at the center of it all. After having the pleasure of photographing not one, but two engagement sessions for Juliana and Mike, getting to document their wedding day felt especially meaningful.

Their engagement story actually unfolded across two very different settings. I photographed their first engagement session at the beach in Lake Pearl Wrentham, followed by an upscale engagement session at Luciano’s Restaurant. Getting to know them throughout those sessions made watching them become husband and wife at the Fairmont Copley Plaza even more special.

Their wedding day held an extra layer of meaning for me because Juliana is also in the wedding industry, as she is the general manager of Lake Pearl Wrentham, a beautiful New England wedding venue where she spends her days helping other couples create incredible wedding celebrations.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Juliana through Lake Pearl, as I photographed the venue’s grand opening when it was first introduced to the wedding community. Documenting this new Italian-Inspired New England Wedding Venue gave me the opportunity to experience the venue firsthand and get to know Juliana. She spends so much of her professional life making sure other brides have the wedding days they’ve dreamed about, so it was incredibly special to watch her finally have her own moment.

There are few Boston wedding venues that feel quite as iconic as the Fairmont Copley Plaza. The historic architecture, grand interiors, and unmistakable Boston atmosphere make it an incredible setting for a classic wedding. Known for its “splendor and old-world opulence”, Juliana and Mike embraced the luxury and timelessness of the venue while adding their own modern and romantic touches throughout the day.

Classic and iconic are two words that immediately came to mind while photographing their spring wedding day. Their celebration was beautifully designed by luxury event planner, Baciare Events, whose work brought the entire aesthetic together so seamlessly. Every element felt incredibly elevated, from the ceremony drapery and florals, to the stunning reception.

Breathtaking Ceremony Design

The ceremony was one of my favorite parts of the day. The draping completely transformed the space, creating an atmosphere that felt romantic, elegant, and incredibly intimate. There was something so beautiful about the softness of the fabric against the architecture of the Fairmont Copley Plaza. Soft florals lined the wedding aisle along with candles that created an entirely different ceremony atmosphere.

After their touching ceremony, they flipped the room for the reception and watching the space transform from ceremony to reception was incredible. The design team completely reimagined the room, creating a reception space that felt entirely different while still flowing beautifully with the aesthetic of the day.

The Reception Reveal

One of my favorite moments from their day was witnessing Juliana and Mike seeing their reception space for the first time. Couples spend so much time planning and imagining what their wedding day will look like. They make countless decisions about flowers, linens, candles, stationery, lighting, and the overall atmosphere. So seeing all of that come together is such an exciting experience. Juliana and Mike’s reaction was priceless as their jaws literally dropped as they walked into the ballroom.

Wedding Afterparty

As beautiful as the overall design was, some of my favorite details were the ones that told Juliana and Mike’s story. Their afterparty included one of the sweetest surprises of the entire weekend, which was something Juliana planned specifically for Mike that included a nod to their first date together.

During their first date, Juliana was so nervous that she couldn’t bring herself to eat before or during their date. Since she was hungry after, she stopped at Taco Bell. Then, as she looked in her rearview mirror, she realized Mike was sitting in the drive-through line directly behind her. Naturally, she texted him immediately.

For their wedding afterparty, Juliana turned that little story into a full-circle moment by including photos of their original text exchange printed onto napkins. The guests were also treated to Taco Bell as a late-night snack. I absolutely love when couples intertwine something meaningful from their relationship into their wedding day. It’s such a beautiful way to honor your story and bring even more meaning to your celebration.

Classic Fairmont Copley Plaza wedding

This Fairmont Copley Plaza wedding incorporated everything I love about a luxury Boston wedding: the classic architecture, thoughtful design, incredible vendors, meaningful details, and a couple who is perfect together and completely surrounded by people who love them.
