Carson and Billy’s Shining Tides Wedding in Mattapoisett, MA was one of the best weddings I’ve ever had the honor of photographing! Their wedding day was utterly stunning and absolute perfection from beginning to end. They gave so much thought and attention to every detail that went into their big day. All their planning and effort paid off!
The wedding venue was gorgeous. Carson shared that she fell in love with the space as soon as she saw it! They both loved how private it felt and the overall beauty of the venue. The bride and groom planned where they were getting ready as well as all the photo locations. They did an excellent job too, because they did their research and selected locations specifically because they knew they’d perfect for a light and airy photography style! Light filled locations create dreamy, light and airy images. Carson was the absolute model bride of what to have prepared for getting ready details.
The bridesmaids wore lovely off-the-shoulder dresses in a dusty blue. Carson selected a classic white flower bouquet that perfectly complemented the venue setting and the elegance of their Shining Tides Wedding. I am in love with the iconic lighthouse featured in so many of the wedding portraits from the day.
Shining Tides Wedding Ceremony
Carson and Billy’s wedding ceremony took place right next to the water. The elegance and beauty was unmatched. There is nothing more romantic than witnessing two people who are PERFECT for each other get married as you sit facing the natural beauty of the beach feeling the breeze roll in off the waves.
As Carson and Billy exchanged vows, there wasn’t a dry eye at the ceremony. Their words moved everyone to tears (including Billy!) and their deep love for one another was evident. After the moving ceremony, the party moved to the open deck of the New England venue that maintains the picturesque view of the beach. Guests could mingle on the porch and watch the sunset, or head to the luscious green lawn that was also decorated in twinkling string lights.
Carson and Billy shared with me parts of their love story, which I always love hearing, and I’d love to share with you too!
Their Love Story
“We first met back in 2012. We both attended UMASS Amherst and had mutual friends so we ended up crossing paths . . . we continued to be friends for the next few years hanging out in group settings. I grew up in Southern California so I spent my summers and breaks home. In the summer of 2014 I had planned a trip to visit some college friends and Billy had found out I was going to be in town.
He texted me asking if I would like to go on a date with him and I agreed. He took me to a sub shop and to a movie, 22 Jump Street (that I had already seen that week but didn’t want to tell him since he had already planned the date lol). I went back to California and we continued to text throughout the summer. When we returned to school in the fall we started to hang out more and more and have been together ever since. We are coming up on 7 years together!”

– Traveling new places
I am so grateful for this opportunity to capture this dream wedding of this dream couple! I found out after they booked me that we graduated from the same college the same year. After learning that detail and being around them at their wedding, everything totally felt meant to be! Thanks to all of their amazing planning, Carson and Billy made not only their wedding dreams come true, but many of my photography dreams come true too on their magical wedding day at Shining Tides.
